I got April Fooled by The Closer. He said the wif was preggers and tried to get me to come down to the bar to celebrate. I had to bust out the "I'd love to, but I'm disgusting with all my stitches and such. Maybe I can take you guys out to celebrate some other time." Before I was even halfway through that, he let me know it was a joke. Good thing for surgery.

I have no idea how I haven't fallen asleep yep. Maybe surgery sleep is worth countless hours of real sleep?
In case there was any question, I'm not dead.
I could not get to sleep. Chilly's over her in about 10 minutes, but an hour of sleep ain't good. Not at all.
I'm tired, can't fall asleep so why not put some new pictures up? Well, not totally new. I took them earlier in the week and haven't had the time to move them between machines.
Here's some shots I took of the outside of the house. The first one is mid day, the second early morning. Notice the shingles color seems to change with the light! |
And my new office blinds. And if you look real carefully, you can see Mrs. Bubba's new truck in the background. |
Now the unpainted hallway (with some splotches of the new colors). I'm leaning towards some recess lighting to update the look in here. And to the right, the infamous "Alice in Wonderland" room. AKA "The Kid's Room." It was bad enough when it was covered being coverage by shelves, but even more hideous in plain sight. |
Yes, it will soon be GONE! If only it could so easily be purged from my memory...

Well, I think I've solidified my trip to Guatemala with my brother (not that brother, another one of them). About ten days in June, but I'll be back in time for Ace's wedding. It better be worth it!

I just read a
comment giving me shit for watching
Deal or No Deal. Well, I think it a right of all Americans, maybe the most fundamental right, is to watch shitty TV.
Well, I think everything at the hospital is all set, but there's problems at home. I've got to take a shower tonight and tomorrow morning. That and be at the hospital by 7 am, that's no good.
I was early for a check-up so I went down to the gift shop for a snacky snack. I sat down and this girl came in with her 18 month old daughter (I heard the clerk ask for her age). The daughter had a tattoo. What the heck is wrong with people? How can that even be legal?

I just passed that crazy guy who was hanging out of the cab a few weeks ago. Conveniently he was hanging out of a cab.
I woke up all refreshed before my alarm went off and was really quite happy about that. Then I realized I hadn't set my alarm and it was 8:35 and wasn't so pleased. At least I got in the office before ten for the first time in forever.
And I think I had some dream about waking to find my TV melted. Now that would be a nightmare.

Me and my bro were caught between a rock and a hard spot: we had enough time to start painting but not enough to finish. So our solution was to come up with new things that weren't needed but could get done quickly. That turned out to be blinds in my room, the kid's room, and my office. Not that that stuff wasn't important, but just wasn't pressing. I should've realized that we'd end up doing next to nothing. Though those blinds do look sort of nice...
The final light that gets me into work is out so I made the right choice, for sure. I'll celebrate by taking a nap.
Woke up to some crazy rain. I heard it was going to rain today but nothing like this (though I never listen to the weather so everything I heard was hearsay). I ran out and pulled my herbs out of the heavy rain (I'm assuming you can water those things too much). Now I'm sequestered in the new lazy room, the back bedroom. I figure if I'm watching TV, I better off watching TV with an old TV than my nice one. And it doesn't hurt that I can lay in bed.
Monday, March 27, 2006
My brother called and is in Mississippi. I think that's good progress.
I heard something so stupid I almost couldn't believe I heard it. I was watching
Deal or No Deal and Howie Mandel was asking the contestant what she would do with the money. I believe she was a cheer leading coach because there were cheerleaders there (yes, this was a sad moment for me watching that. The show's gotten more hokey every week. If I could look down on myself I might not even recognize what I've become).
Anyway, she answered the question by stating that she and her husband had been trying to start a family for the past year. So what would they use the money for? They'd use to money for fertility help. Couldn't you come up with a better reason ON TV? Is nothing private? You're putting out there that your hubbie's shooting blanks or that you're barren? Friggin stupid people.
Well, my bro is on the road again. I think he got out of here later than he wanted (and with a bit more mess left than I wanted) but as long as he gets through Houston before rush-hour he should be fine.

We might not be doing a ton around the house, but me and my brother gorged ourselves on king crab. Man, that stuff is good. We got a late start so we're taping The Sopranos and watching it without commercial interruption. Shit, there aren't any commercials to begin with.

Living things outside my house. Just crazy.
Friday, March 24, 2006
My bro got this gig lined up in the Sunshine State so he's out of here come Monday. Good thing he's planning on painting the remainder of the rooms.
My bro decided to get up early and put them up, I guess. So here are pictures of the back bedroom with blinds.

Like magic.

Heck, I went to Crown and Winston called in sick. Just me and Flashy until a couple of Winston's friends showed up.
Now to get caught up on
Early and
The Office.

I picked up some blinds for the painted room, but I got back too late to put them up. Well, for me and the bro to put them up. Maybe tomorrow or Saturday.
Now I've got to get ready to head up to Crown & Anchor to meet up wtih Flashman and Winston. Wasn't planning on it, but Flashy sounded so in need of a beer.

Well, they won't want to put
this shit in the tourist brouchures. I mean, arresting people for being drunk? I'm on borrowed time then.
That did it. These posts are so exciting; they can't be missed!
The site doesn't seen to post from the blogger interface. Hopefully this'll prime the pump.
I'm glad to see not only the Pistons win, but that San Antonio lost. The Pistons game was a bit of a gut wrencher until the 4th though the folks from Auburn Hills took care of business in the end. My big concern was I broke with tradition and bet on my team; usually that's pretty bad luck for me. Good thing because neolefty owes me twenty bucks.

Man, no posts may keep me working, but I'm not getting into the office until nearly 11 now. I don't know if that is the desired effect.
Anyway, I left early and am making some scallops with spinach polenta for dinner. Need to get that done in time for the Pistons-Heat game.

Well, the leather jacket back from its home country. Looks like new. Can't even tell it was covered nearly entirely with blippitty blood.
-740522.jpg)
The dry cleaning lady said they couldn't get it all out, but I couldn't find anything. Maybe that'll be a surprise for some time down road. Something like:
Random Person: "You've got something on the back of your jacket."
Me: "Oh, I do? Crazy. Let take a look at it." Then I'd take a careful look before announcing, "that's nothing to worry about, that's just caked in blood that the dry cleaner couldn't get out." And then I'd just keep on walking.
And it'd be real funny if the person hadn't heard the story. Or if I hadn't been walking.

Man, overslept my alarm by a ton. I was doing crap until 2:30, though I was able to get caught up on all my shows. Which is something.
Though now I might be stuck in a vicous cycle (work late, oversleep, still need to get a ton done so I work late). But at the end of the day the check clears twice a month.

That work thing is a real swell time. I could put up with it if not for the not being on IM and not updating the site. I still need to find some time to track down a laptop. Or maybe I should just work from 9 - 5 at the office. Funk that.
And I've got a class tonight, but I've got to come back home and do some more work. I guess it being quiet for a few weeks and now being slammed had to expected.
Jebus, Jebus! Take me away.
Glad I checked my email to realize I have to get something almost impossible done by Wednesday. I think I'll sleep in tomorrow. Oh, that's today. Hurray for me.

Bubba came by and he and my Bro shucked about 40 oysters. I made some crazy topping of shallots, garlic, bacon, frozen peas (yes, FROZEN PEAS), red pepper and goat cheese. Put those in the oven for about 12 minutes and you had some good ass shit. I should've taken some pictures.

Man, I got back home a lot later than my old body was expecting. Past two when you've been home for basically the last few weeks takes a lot of you.
So today I think we'll try to finish the trim, but I think the key is saving up enough energy for Mac's birthday festivities tonight. Thankfully I have nearly 12 hours to rest up.

The black leprechaun back from the hospital. Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Told there cats from work to meet at Maggie Mae's. We're at Mother Egan's. My bad.
Set up in the corner of Mother Egan's waiting for news on incognegro. He had a little unpacking incident and is now shuttling between hospitals.
So the first couple of Guinness have brought back the good times of drinking. And the plastic cups help out a lot. And I'm not unpacking anything.

My brother stayed back tonight and was thinking about painting the trim. Now I'm realizing there's a 50/50 chance of him shaking the wrong one. I think you know what my money is on.
My brother has turned down drinking beer on St. Patty's Day. He's no brother of mine.

First night of the volunteering at the cooking school and I'm beat. Beat, I say.
Man, this work stuff is for the birds.
Oh, I woke up early this morning and had this dream that I was watching a movie that I had seen before. Kevin Spacey and Terrence Howard were in it and there was a part near the end that I swore I had seen before. But then the ending was different than I thought so I planned on seeing them again on video (I think I was watching the movie on basic cable). The ending was something involving electricity or fire which is always cool. Maybe giant sparklers? Giant flaming sparklers!

Here are some before and after shots of the back bedroom. The first one you can tell a bit better what the color was.

Obviously I might want to look into taking the same angles for the before and afters, but it's a learning process all over.

I stayed home again and was pretty friggin busy with the work of that place that pays me. Just about when I was fed up, JMVC called up with an extra ticket to accompamany him to the Austin Music Awards tonight. Fortunately I have no other plans so I'm down with the clowns. Or, in this case, the clown.

Today is the
Ides of March and there was this interesting thing about Mr. Dead 2050 years himself. Apparently there are still molecules from his
last breath floating around.
Going into a room and checking to see if the second coat has sufficiently covered evenly isn't best done at 10 past midnight. FYI.

Well, the fixup surgery has been postponed. Now it'll be two weeks from Friday instead of Friday. St. Patty's day, here I come!

Another knick of time night. Tonight I planted some tomatoes, realized I needed more, ran to Lowe's, and planted them all in time for 24. I only needed to head out to water them during breaks. I have some tomatoes from seeds so I don't know how those will work, but the other ones should grow like wildfire. Or like tomatoes.

You can definitely make out the one on my jaw line though the one on my upper lip isn't as visible. Look hard!

Sounds like Sony settled a lawsuit over copy protection software they were putting onto CDs. Jager sent me this link, http://www.eff.org/sony/. Check it out to see if you have any CDs that you can get some credit for. Looks like you can get some free downloads and replacement CDs out of the bargain.

Apparently Subsonica

I heard some announcer on ESPN refer to the Seattle Subsonicas. That can't be a coincidence.
Subsonica is an Italian rock band. Conveniently, they're playing here Thursday for
SXSW but I'll be otherwise occupied with my cooking aspirations (of grandeur). Too bad, because they put out some good stuff.

I was able to plant my herbs with just enough time to spare to plant my ass on the couch for The Sopranos season premiere. I thin this will be the first "live" season I'll be seeing. If they ever get through all this intro/recap crap.
Work's gone pretty good today on the back room. One coat of paint is down with at least one more to go. That prep does a great deal to speed up things.
Chilly brought his camera by so I'll need to put up some before and after shots.

Done a lot of prep today so I'm hoping we can get the walls all painted tomorrow. Another crazy night, I know.
I just got back from a cooking trainee session. With two sessions as a helper, I get one free class. Also, I get more exposure with the chefs and get to use a industrial dishwasher. Things are coming full circle.

Pretty quiet night around these parts. Me and the bro started watching 1941, but he feel asleep halfway through. Tomorrow he's working, but I think we're going to try to prep the back bedroom. Screw paying somebody to paint this crap, I'm doing it. Well, I'll try.
Four weeks ago was glass night. Seems like just yesterday that the glass was slicing me up into pieces. Oh, where do the good times go?
Big Boy!
Voice recognition software sucks. I was changing my W4's and it is a pain in the ass. I'm not sure if it's just that I mumble and am incomprehensible or this stuff this blows. I'm leaning towards the blowing.
less leaves, more sun
Talked with one of the Bobs last night and he's cutting some branches so I'll be getting less crap falling into the water works.
Had a guy give me an estimate to paint the rooms and it was a lot higher than I thought. Me and my brother were talking last night and just said screw it and are going to give it a shot this weekend. But we'll so how that works out.
Thursday, March 09, 2006
Friggin long day killed somehow, but I did manage to do one important thing: put more water in the pool. It's partly filled with funk, but I figured it would be good to get the filter pumping before it turns into a total mosquito farm. Supposed to be hot this weekend so the heat will now have to battle with bleach and acide. Whatever survives there will be a worthy successor to man.
The hospital called me up to talk through the paperwork for next week's procedure and the end came down like I should've realized. It was about money. In the end, I have pretty decent insurance though this deal is still costing me a ton of money next week. She gave me the number and wanted me to pay up right then. I had played this game when I was in the hospital, so I played it off trying to get payments. Funny thing, she said something "we'd like to have all money so all we need to do is concentrate on you". Isn't that nice? I still got two payments out of her.

I don't want anything to do with
this lobster. No amount of melted butter will help.
Well, one too darn many more visits to the hospital is over. The cat scan was actually kind of cool, at least I know that GE is putting out some sophisticated medical technology. Pretty darn expensive though I've met my deductible long ago. Anyway, the results will come back tomorrow, but conveniently my doctor is out of the office until next week. Convenient time out of the office.
here we go again
So at the check up the doctor thinks my jaw might be broken. Now I'm getting ready for a Cat Scan, which I think is something like an MRI. I had one of those last year and it wasn't fun.
The hits just keep on coming.
I'm at the doctor's for a follow-up and I walked up six flights of steps to get here. Boy, am I winded. Maybe they give me something for that.
The Player's got this cool side thing going on selling

well, one less in Atlanta
The infamous
incognegro has left Atlanta on a jet plane never to return. Well, I think for holidays, maybe. After years of planning, he’s officially moving to San Francisco though I think he’ll be working in Oakland. Either, it's good to see him out of there; I know he hated it.

I'm taking some Environment Waste Training (let's not get into the fact that I work in an office and am never around anything of the sort, barely water) and apparently Michigan has its own specific waste clasisification called Michigan Industrial Waste. And what is this waste? It is "water generated during manhole dewatering". What the heck is that?
Looks like FSU might have been put over the top for a NCAA tournament bid with a win
over Miami yesterday. That and the big win over Duke on Wednesday. I doubt they'll go anywhere in the tourney, but I seriously don't think they've been in it since I left school. Back when Charlie Ward and Sam Cassell manned the backcourt. And fire making was still a class.

I'm had this nutso dream last night with some serious
Dark City overtones. The cityscape was like out of a comic book and their were some machinations going on that pitted my visiting brother and incognegro against little old me! mobile post: the night so far
Well, I hit a surprise party for a friend's 40th birthday and now I'm at an all ages show. A slight change of pace, but the good Lord's blessed me with the blending skills of a chameleon and the technology of a miracle worker.
There was an answer on Jeopardy stating something to the effect that everyone was happy for this ex-Boston Bruin player winning the Stanley Cup in 2001. The hell if I was. I don't care for people that give up on their team just so they can win a title. I've said it before and I'll say it again, screw that cock sucker quitter Ray Bourque.
A pretty productive day as I had a couple coworkers come by to help with some colors for the house. I think I've centered on virtually all of them, now I just need to figure out if I want to paint this myself or hire somebody. I'm leaning towards hiring, but maybe me and the brother could tackle it. Maybe?

The day has taken forever to get done. I don't know if I accomplished a single thing but submitting my time. And that just barely. I really could've used eBay today, but there are those damn proxies! I've got my eye on some used 80's cds that I can't seem to find anywhere but new.
I had this dream that I was looking at
incognegro's resume and he interspersed little personal information tidbits about himself between work details. I wish I could recall the tidbits.

Quiet all week at the office. So much so that I continued doing my taxes a bit. I really wish I could just have them miraculously done. They are a pain in a half.
So I brought my spare Brita into the office. It can't fit in the fridge so I think I'll need to get used to luke warm water. Btw, those are my keys and, to the left, a quarter. If you need a point of comparison.

mobile post: $45 to clean blood
I screwed up and dropped the bloody leather jacket without taking some pictures. I guess it would be tough to make out all the blood on black leather. OK, I'm forgiven.
I decided to take my time into the office today, but I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and try to work without the proxy server. I'm afraid of Big Brother like everyone else and would prefer to not get canned for spending too much time on ESPN's site. Even on this one.
What I think I'll need to do is get a laptop that I can plug unfiltered into the network. I wonder how odd it would look to have two laptops on my desk? I wonder how much it would cost to get my old laptop fixed? Or just to buy a bare bones one?
