Bubba came by and we killed most of the afternoon before he proposed going to nearest bar serving Guinness. Well, we killed four or five hours and never a Guinness touched our lips. But we did go through like seven pitchers of Bud Light which is something.
So that's how I killed my Sunday afternoon. I would've felt bad if the sun had ever gone down, though. At least I get to spend the rest of the night watching TV.

Took a turn at volunteering at the cooking school and I'm BEAT. I did end up walking out with some samples of manicotti, ravioli, tortellini plus extra filling mixture but that doesn't make up for me being wiped out. I think I'll use the filling for some souped up omelets tomorrow.
At least I got to miss the embarrassing defeats of the Pistons and Red Wings. I may be beat, but I'm not beatable.

Holy shit, the Lions didn't draft an offensive player. And they got a Seminole, so they can't do much better in my eyes. Still, they could've drafted that Leinart kid out of USC. Or even that crazy Jay Cutler kid. All I know is the second quessing continues for the Lions. I'm figuring the Lions are running scared and worried about making the wrong call. And Matt Millen needs to get fired off the face of the earth. Yes, there is a reason I have a banner to have the guy fired on my site. Friggin moron.

Man, crazy night of storms again. I woke up about thirty minutes ago and now can't fall back to sleep. It gives me time to overthink the Lions and their pending stupidity today. I had hoped they'd trade down or something, but it looks like they'll stand pat. I'd like that safety out of Texas, Michael Huff, but I can see them drafting a quarterback to muddy the waters a bit more. Stupid Matt Millen will screw up something I am quite sure.

I got home and the weather outside was (near) frightful, but that's not going to stop me from heading out with the grand intent of getting myself some hail dings.
But I'm in a pretty darn good mood. I found out I get DSL for pretty much free for some deal with the company. And I'm in such a great mood that I'm not even regretting the months upon months of paying for my cable modems.

Headed out for some dinner to
Galaxy Cafe in the dirty, dirty south than by
Mean Eyed Cat for some Coors before hitting
Tambaleo to see a friend of a friend's friend DJ. All the while checking out the Red Wings score (which I got right!). I hadn't been to Galaxy Cafe before, but was advised to check it out. First impressions were that there wasn't much worthwhile going on. Cat was fine as usual, but the verdict is out on Tambaleo. I had been there years ago with JMVC when there were some girls slamming bottles of beer (which is pretty cool when it's hot lawyer chicks), but it was pretty dead tonight. Maybe this DJ thing will make it more happening? It could be my after-
Crown and Anchor place to go.
Anyway, these basketball games look like blowouts so I'm passing out. But the Wings won so that's all that matters.

I keep forgetting I've got a Wings' fan around here in justdrew. I mosied over and made a prognostication of 4-2 Wings tonight. I don't think I believe that myself, but you've got to do desperate things in such situations.

Had this stabbing pain in my left side just a bit ago. I mean bent over in near agony. I am old! But thankfully it went away after about 20 minutes.

I barely want to comment on the Pistons just destroying with Milwaukee. Poor Bucks never had a chance.

I have this check that absolutely, positively has to be there by next week and used my bank's bill pay feature. I set it up on Monday and as of today it was still sitting in processing. So the worrier I am, I called up the online support. I then spent about ten minutes for the guy to tell me that I needed to cancel the payment and start all over. Even though I could see it in the "scheduled payments" area. I wasn't in a sour mood so I figured I'd tell this guy everything and then some so he'd realize I wasn't the ordinary dumb ass. Finally he got to the point where he found out it would be processed tonight. And I killed some precious moments in my day.
It really blows waiting up until past one just to see your team lose in double OT.

I went out to get a late lunch and there were fire trucks outside the parking garage. And one of the fireman said to watch out as the floors were slick. Slick was an understatement as there was a constant flow of water going down ever flight of stairs. And not just water, there was some funky black gunk along for the ride. I tried to find out what happening, but I'm hoping some exec parked their car on the top floor and some resentful bastard set the mother on fire.

Oh, I ordered new business cards yesterday. I realized it a while ago that my cool old ones were somewhat outdated. I guess the phone number and my name were correct, but new ones were in order. So some were (ordered).
I have this not-so convenient habit of waking up a minute or so before my alarm goes off. That doesn't stop the snooze bar hitting, of course.

I think I'll need to get the grill up and operational fast because the house is too hot to cook in. Or maybe I'm just too lazy, I'm not quite sure. Maybe I'll start cooking dinner in the morning and reheating it in when I get home? I'm sure I'll be in the office by about noon that way. The day will completely breeze by then.
My Sunday night of tv was accompanied by about three or four hours of work, so me leaving at 10:15 doesn't make me feel too bad. Though I have been up since before 7...

First the Asian market, next potstickers. Pretty darn good, though a lot of effort without any food for lunch tomorrow. That could add a wrinkle tomorrow.
And at least the Pistons offset the Red Wings loss earlier today. Friggin Red Wings.

Just completed my first trip to an Asian market. I feel so tall!
Just got back from the grocery and there were a couple of girls keeping it real outside. One car had dinged another or something. Result: one girl with a fat lip with an ice pack, two others cuffed and stuffed in the back of a police cruiser.

Cooking up some seafood at Bubba's
I put together these shrimp kabobs (along with red pepper and onion) and some mussells (no picture available). Bubba's put together a crawfish boil. Great stuff all around. And this great idea all started over a game of Scrabble. Who said you couldn't think of anything great while thinking? |
That night out turned out to be a lot later than I would've planned. And I ended up eating fast food late, which I typically frown upon. The good thing is I'm not too dead today. Maybe I'm fully recovered? God help us all.

The Closer called me up on my way home and mentioned going out tonight. I had no desire to do that, but I couple forced minutes of sleep has turned me around. It sounded like plans up north, but it'll be downtown. Now if I can get my brother to come along...

I didn't think dhis day would never end. I swear at 2 it felt like it should've been 4 or 5. And then next few hours didn't go any faster. I got a couple hours of work left for the weekend because I'm sure as hell ain't working any more tonight.
The problem with waking up in the middle of the night is always the going-back-to-sleep. I made it back to bed around 5:15 and woke back up at 9:30. Thankfully there isn't a ton of work for me to avoid. Yet.
It is raining like nuts. Thank The Maker for that new roof.

I tried to drop something on JMVC's car on my way home from Crown & Anchor but he did me a disservice by not being home. That devil!
Left work early to avoid the crazy weather. And just got to my house when the serious shit came crashing down.
And my brother's got some work tomorrow (away from my house, how date he?). Hopefully this doesn't blow our painting weekend plans. It ain't finishing itself, is it?
So I was at the office past seven for the first time in ages and it looks to get no better. And considering what time it is and I was working still (though don't cry for me, Ms. Argentina) we're looking down the barrell of a lot of work.

And Flashman and Aces are going to Lake Tahoe for Aces' bachelor party. Crazy, but I'm missing one of those things.

Me parent's are heading to China tomorrow. Three weeks to China. Hopefully they'll come back with trinkets for me.
I haven't found the money to buy an ipod and was too lazy to copy music from my home pc so I brought in some CDs to manually copy over to my work machine (lots of work, I know, but worth it). See, the music on the work machine hasn't been played a bit too much so I needed some new blood. Which in my case means old. And I picked a varied sampling: Mettalica, Load; Pearl Jam, Ten; Bob Marley & The Wailers, Legend; The Single Soundtrack; and Ultravox, Vienna.
Now I've got to get caught up one some real work.
Well, I didn't win the lottery so I guess I'm going to the office. Darn me and my dreams of striking it rich by doing nothing!

I heard Winston on the phone explaining pagination and scrolling to people. I'd strangle people that ignorant. I wonder what incognegro or neolefty would do with such people?

I had to explain to somebody what a DL was. And not that cool way that the kid's use these days.

So Friday I was flying a kite and today looking for land for a museum. Having Winston around the office makes work almost enjoyable. Or, at least, occasionally entertaining.

I'm trying to get off to a good start by not getting to the office at noon, but this waking up early thing really does take a lot of energy.

Interesting sports history item, the Pistons and Red Wings are the first teams from the same city to finish with the NBA and NHL's best regular-season record in the same season. Go team! Well, Teams.
Hopefully they can both bring home the title in their respective sport.

Between cleaning paint off the trim, I put together an Easter feaster even Jebus would've been tempted by. First off was the ham. I spiral cut that bad boy and cooked it for a few hours. Then I put a combination of mustard, honey, and whiskey all over it. Then I packed on brown sugar and broken up sugar cookie before shoving it back in the coals for another couple hours. Hmm, hmm, good!
Along with it, some carrots cooked in brown sugar and honey (you sense a trend), baked potatoes, and some biscuits.
Now to get some rest before the TV shows tonight.

Grand Central around here today. First I went and got my car back, then met up for some reminiscing over last night's events at The Closer's place. I had hoped for some sleep, but Bubba came by and let me know the progress of my brother (he'll be here tonight). The Chilly came by. Then he left, then my brother arrived. The Bubba left Then my brother went to sleep. Maybe no nap was a good call, but I've got to drive Chilly to the airport in the morning. Early day tomorrow.

Friggin crazy time last night. Ended up near campus after somebody set the fire alarm at one bar. Chilly came by and picked me up, which is cheaper than a cab.
And I lost one of my buddies last night and was royaly bitched out by his wife for losing him. All the sympathy from my incident is long gone, I guess.

I'll tell you the Devil's honest truth, you can't hope or wish for a shot better than this. Unless it's liquid. And not liquid soap. |
So this is the party bus. We're on our way downtown now. |
Friday, April 14, 2006
Dances cost twenty dollars, but sneaking pictures is free. |
I've lost my pants before the second round of shots. And the party bus isn't even here yet. That's not a good sign. Let's not even factor in that I look like a reject of some split Norther Ireland family. |
Shots of soap aren't a good idea.
First bomb since the incident. I wish I could say it will be the last. No, I'm a clairvoyant, I'm just a realist. |
I think the drinks at lunch have settled well let me drink tonight and not get totally disgusted with myself. That and the little nappy wappy. Something to help with the seven hours of drinking to come.
The kite flying killed too much time. Now I've got to do some real work so I can get the heck out of here and home to prep for tonight's craziness.
The Red Baron flies again!
What better use of the fourth floor of the parking garage than flying a kite? |
Killing time on a Friday afternoon
Me and Winston went and got a couple drinks as lunch. Now we're off to fly this kite. |

Seems like everyone gets off Good Friday but me. I think I'll make up for it by drinking excessively for The Closer's brother's bachelor party.

I don't like much more than pirates, but a story about
pirates versus ninjas comes pretty close.
Was planning on making today a 5:01 day, but a bunch of other people had other ideas. And now I've got to go by Chilly's house and check out the fuse box. Don't ask.

I had another going away happy hour to hit, but I skipped out on the festivities (including the Spazmatics) scheduled afterwards at
Cedar Street. But I had major accomplishment here tonight: I've deleted enough email in my hotmail account to reduce free space from 14% to 1%.

So I've got a followup with the pretty-up doctor and I'm an hour early. And this is the same place I was early the last couple times. And I'm never early for anything.

That Mondat at home sure did help put a dent in the work week. Now a nice salad and some ass time on the couch will kill the rest of Tuesday.
They're putting out a $1,000.00 mint julep at this year’s Kentucky Derby. Now, I’m not somebody to turn down a drink, but maybe I’d ask for the cash instead.
Rap violence in Detroit;
Proof is dead! And a club on Eight Mile. Now, ain't that ironical?
I may have got in the office before 9 (the first time in weeks), but there is a price for being early. My friggin hair is out of control. And I've got some strings coming out of my ears. What's wrong with me?! |

Went by Hula Hut earlier today and think I saw a former employer. I tried to make it through the throng but couldn't. Well, it'll be an excuse to email him and get back in the network.
Saturday, April 08, 2006
Well, at the class tonight they had left over Australian lobster. Like a lot of it. I think I had a tail and a half myself. That's like twenty bucks retail in my belly. Me likey!
I was out decently late with Aces and Flashman, but I am now rushing around trying to get out of the house. I was doing OK time-wise when the lawn guy came by to deal with my bug issues (oh, my front lawn has an infestation). Then after that, my neighbor mentioned there was the current brand of pool chemicals are being discontinued and are on clearance. So I needed to run up there buy a bunch of shite (though now I'm good for a hundred years). Convenient, because I'm all out of that shite.
And now, I've got to get cleaned up and out the door.

Up before 9 am for the first time in forever. Good timing right before the weekend.
Was looking at the standing and the Detroit Tigers have the best record in the American League. I know it's early, but to be undefeated (even 3-0) is much better than Tigers fans. Even better, they won those three games on the road.
I've got a happy hour tonight at Sherlocks tonight and I'm volunteering at the cooking school tomorrow so I'll take any movement around the house as progress.

So there's one barely lit cloud hovering over my house. And it's only lit because of all the lightning shooting back and forth. Let's go get a haircut!
One of my favorite people at the office is leaving so I'm going in today (albeit quite a bit late) for a going-away happy hour. We're heading up to that place
Johnny Carino's up on 620. I tried to track it down and they consider themselves Cedar Park. I wonder if that has anything to do with Austin's smoking ban?
Wednesday, April 05, 2006
I made something crazy for dinner. I had a poached egg on top of goat cheese topped toast and the drizzled all that with a olive oil, honey, and chives sauce. Crazy idea and crazy good.
The stupid company I work for updated our time tracking software without telling anyone so the URL changed. This cat on my team sent out an email to inform us and I was going to send a thank you. That is until I saw a quote from Thomas Jefferson in his signature. Then I realized a mere thank-you couldn't help that clown.
I don't know where Tuesday went (no posts!). I'm getting the stitches yanked out today, but somehow have a conference call now. Hoepfully this will get done in time. Who am I kidding, I'll just leave if it gets too close.
Monday, April 03, 2006
Well, I do have a warranty on the TV (I bought it on September 7, 2003. Thankfully I keep my life on this site). But I've got to wait until Friday to have some clown come out. I'm going to have to watch 24 and Lost in non-HD? That's no good. And on this TV, it seems like sacrilege. |
Labels: television
I think the makeup surgery's officially screwed up my sleep. I was up past 3 and I got up around 9:00 am just to fall back asleep in the middle of the morning for another couple hours. I need to be up long enough to find the documentation on my TV. I certainly hope I did get that extended warranty because paying to fix that beast would not be fun. Not at all.
I'm home today and tomorrow with the intent of going to the office after my stitches are yanked out on Wednesday.

The TV still ain't coming on, but I'll ignore that problem for a bit longer. That sleeping all day was good to help keep my mind off the TV (it makes the noise as if it's starting up, but just doesn't). Good thing the other room has a TV to aid so I could watch the Pistons come back from WAY back to beat the Suns. Though that seems like hours ago. Well, it was. So it is.
Labels: basketball, sports
Well, the TV ain't coming on. This ain't cool. Though now that I think about it, I had a dream a couple days ago that my TV melted and my little TV was on top of the melted mess. I think my brother was still here when I had that dream. So things could be worse.

I was watering my lawn past midnight so, in that content, painting part of my hallway didn't seem to odd. After I was done, I was still not tired so I went to my trusty TV and it didn't come on. Now, I know I'm tired, but I was just watching something an hour ago. Maybe it has something to do with Daylight Savings Time. All I know is that bitch better come to life tomorrow morning or there will be some trouble somewhere.

Not much going on around here, but those damn Gaytors won their basketball game. I hate that team. I think if UCLA wins, I win one of my tourney pools but I'd give it all back to have the friggin Gaytors drown in their own filth.
Well, another one bites the dust. Jager got engaged. I don't know if this is the same as a newspaper, but the news was
first heard on this very site.
Labels: jager
Well, woke up nice and rested and without having yanked out my stitches. Which I think is preferred. My lip looks pretty crappy, but that's because of the stitches but the rest of me actually looks better. Surprising considering that was the aim.
Well, I'm couch bound for the day. Good times ahead.
