A nice little trip down to town lake, now I'm going to the Crown for a BLT!

I spoke too soon; the Tigers came back and won. I feel bad I had kind of written them off (tonight).
I rushed home to see the Tigers on ESPN and they blew a 2-0 lead. Stupid Yankees.
neolefty send some link to some video on YouTube and I realized that's either the first or second time I've gone to that site. Apparently it's pretty popular. I remember when I used to be pretty much on top of everything on the internet, now I'm a late adopter. I don't like it.

The boarders rented Inside Man with my recommendation so I was able to check it out (please note, I don't actually have to see something to recommend it). It was pretty good, but it's one of those things that seems less good the more you think about it.
Speaking of less good, I saw the season finale of Rescue Me and it sure was a let down.

I woke up and it was actually raining. I almost forgot what rain sounded like. Maybe my house will be cool for a couple hours now.
And my brother called me up last night at 10 pm his time thinking it was 9 pm my time. He's out in California and hasn't figured that out yet? Come on. Besides, he was calling to see if I could mail out his jump rope. Nice use of my time, huh?

I made this great meatloaf tonight, though I wish I had started on it a bit sooner. I screwed around the house for a while until I finally got to chopping and the like, next think I know I'm taking a nap and the meatloaf's getting done past 9. That's no way to live.
Chilly came by for a little morning jog and I'm somehow going to leave and be at the office before 9 am. Not the way I should be starting the week, but I figure Thursday and Friday will be quiet with people disappearing. And I hope to be one of them.

I went over to the Bubba's to smoke some ribs and ended up being over there way too long. As in just-got-back-home way too long. Lots of Guinness and food and karaoke places and comfy couches, but the thing that sticks in my head is seeing Anger Management and that movie being shitty. It had moments, but not that many.
Now I'm going back to bed.

Well, my fantasy football team is all drafted. Now I've got to figure out a way to piss away the rest of the day.

Earlier today, I renewed this domain for another year, so don't you worry about missing any of this exciting action.
And I still have this kink in my neck.

I got some sort of crazy kink in my neck.

I've got my fantasy football draft on Saturday, but I've done next to no prep. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid work long enough to get some RB's lined up.

I had a class tonight and made the right move by slamming a Guinness before heading in. Pub grub and beer rules!
On my way back from my seminar last night, stopped to get a haircut but needed some food so I headed to find a gyro. There's this place that Chilly and I went to some months ago, but I haven't been since. I rushed down there, but I got by just past 9 so there was no gyro for me. So I came back and pigged out on about 3/4 of a frozen pizza. That and the shitty buther job of a haircut have me feel disgusting this morning.Labels: chilly

I was at this seminar tonight and the guy leading the thing was discussing this drug company that used a portion of their for profit development to fund drug production for drugs to fight African diseases. He had worked them helping to optimize their cost structure and this guy was asking some questions at the end. The guy asked for some elaboration on the African drug program. So the lecturer explained again the rationale and how the time system helped them adequately track their drug procession through the approval process. At the end of this, the lecturer asked if he had answered the question to which the guy responded: "I guess so, it just seems like a waste of time."
Nice!
Nice!
Man, I'm glad the United Nations was so quick to act with things in Lebanon. They can circle the wagons and get the help out faster than any organization outside FEMA.
I don't think I mentioned that Winston was in Europe the past couple of weeks. Well, he was supposed to be back yesterday and I was informed his flight had been delayed. He called me just a few minutes ago and his flight had been cancelled so that'll be another 17 hour delay. The funny part was him on the phone: between him telling me the situation, I hear him say in a very calm voice, "please don't touch me." I'm not sure what kind of airport that guy's at, but it sounds funky.

I'm glad I was late this morning because I got to miss the first half of this horrible call. This guy from Connecticut was a total tool and was a real dick to the head of this project. There's no point in being rude that early in the day. Well, at least there's a bunch of Code Red upstairs now.
All loaded up and raring to go. One friggin place around town actually loading up the Code Red. And these are packed deep. I can use that emergency wad of dollar bills for something else other than g-strings.
I tried to mix up the morning routine, but still not leaving before 8:45. Who am I kidding, they'll be happy if I ever show up.

I don't know if I've chronicled my issues with my license plates, but it's been a big pain in the ass. I decided to set myself officially as Texas resident (and this is three years past due). It helped that my license and tags both expired on 8/10. First step was last Thursday to get my driver's license. So here is the breakdown:
Needless to say, I'm not getting my new license for a while. But then the fun part came:
And the beat goes on.
- Wait in line at the license bureau; I'm told I need to register my car first
Go to register my car (another line); I'm told that I need to have my car inspected first
I get my car inspected and wait about 45 minutes, but do get a Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich at the nearby gas station
I head back to the register my car (another line, of course). I get my plates, but get to enjoy several uncomfortable moments where the clerk was telling me how lucky I was to be white because black people get pulled over for having expired registration.
It's almost 4:45 when I leave and barely get back to the DMV to get my license; they say they've got time, but I don't have my social security card. And I don't know where that is, so I'll have to head downtown to get a new SS card.
Needless to say, I'm not getting my new license for a while. But then the fun part came:
- I didn't have nuts or bolts for my front license plate, so I went to Lowe's to get some. The guy matched me up, but I got out to my car and they didn't work (and it was past closing time, so I was stuck for the night).
I went to Autozone and matched up the screw exactly. There were length choices and the guy at the counter "guaranteed" the short ones would work.
Headed to Chilly's place and the short ones didn't work so I stop and pick up the ones that did fit.
I get back to my place, put in the front plate and I'm set. I go to the back and the right screw is stripped and I can't get it out and I end up tearing off my FSU license plate.
And the beat goes on.
Man, I'm so bored I'm watching golf. Golf!
mobile post: back at MEC
I don't need much prompting to make shit up andand put pen to paper (or in this case, a napkin). And these are people reading said napkin. And don't ask me where this all started. All I know is that I've spent way too much time at Mean Eyed Cat as of late.mobile post: Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon
This is after jmvc somehow pissed of Ginny. See, old people don't like it when you tell them their establishment is slanted so much that you can easily roll a pool cue from one end to another.Saturday, August 19, 2006
I'm making up some marinara with rolled meat (aka braciole). I had meant to make braciole with flank steak, but I took the wrong thing out of the freezer. I think this was veal, but I'm not really sure. Hopefully good.mobile post: fire, anyone?

So, the Flaming Dr. Pepper is back. But really, keep it under wraps. I only wish I had a real camera to capture the power that is the Flaming Dr. Pepper.Friday, August 18, 2006
I'm showered, shaved and ready to go to work. But first, I'm going to get some food!
Eureka, my urine is almost yellow!
I think trying to get up at 6:15 even thought I was going to bed at nearly 4 wasn't the best of ideas.
mobile post: another shot in a bathroom
mobile post: pajamas at the bar are good!
And that blur to the right is her leg. She's like lounging in her pj's at the bar. And hot to boot. And a fine booty. And yes I'm out drinking.Thursday, August 17, 2006
I was supposed to go for a jog with Bubba down at Town Lake, but all my errand running has me beat. I swear, trying to be a legal Texas resident is a pain in the ass. Went to get a license, they sent me to first get my car registered. At the registration place, they said I needed an inspection. Then back to the registration where the Chatty Cathy I was dealing with took FOREVER. I barely go back to the license place where things seems like they were going well until they asked for my social security card. Me don't have that bitch, so I need to request a copy. And that, I'm sure, takes forever.
Well, going out for beers tonight, just not sure when. Hopefully it'll be somewhat tame.

Just overheard a conversation where one guy was saying he was a Purdue fan. And Northwestern. Now, that's just plain stupid to be rooting for two bad teams in the same conference. I would argue he's not even a fan of football.
Did a little sleeping in this morning, which fealt pretty darn good. No waking up early for a jog, though I think I'll end up at the office around the same time. Hurray for me.

It's going to be a packed house tonight: besides the boarders, I've got a couple other crashing in the spare rooms.
mobile post: grab your Dew's by the horns!
What the fuck is going on with Code Red? Are individuals bringing them as carry-on's? If that's the case then put the Limeys on this terrorism thing so I can get a friggin Dew! Isn't there something about supply and demand in the Constitution? Well, the supply is high, the demand is high so get some shit in here. Damn you!Tuesday, August 15, 2006
Funny slip up on TV. Thanks, neolefty!
BTW, that's the first time I've ever gone to that YouTube site. Weird, wacky stuff.

OK, the Tigers have got off the losing streak and beat Boston a couple times. I feel a bit better, though I still don't want them to ever lose. Only total victory will satiate me!

I'm easily convinced to buy things and Saturday was no expection when the guy in the meat department told me about this chicken that was allowed to naturally get old longer or something. Anyway, it was supposed to taste "better than any chicken I've ever had". Well, just had it and won't go that far, but I really dug how the whole chicken was deboned. Like all the destruction was kept away from my tender eyes.

The nearly forty hours spent on the couch isn't nearly enough. Not enough! Though it can't make the stink of the Tigers losing their ass go away. Stink!
Saturday, August 12, 2006
I think I've hit rock bottom: I've watched the last two episodes of "I Wanna Be A Soap Star!". I would've hoped I'd have some more energy after nearly twelve hours in bed, but that was not the case.
Friday, August 11, 2006
For the first time in a long time (probably last year), I hit Scholz Garten and decided to pile some heavy German food on top of the loads of Rudy's I had for lunch. Now I'm beat. Wiped out, I am.

Nothing much better than finding out at 5:15 that you've got a couple of hours of work ahead of you. At least I'm not hungover anymore.

mobile post: new bar, free drinks!
So this is the new unnamed bar. Rather, me in the bathroom at the new unnamed bar. Across the street from Katz's for those interested. I'm not sure if this is the first day or what, but they're handing out two free drink coupons per person on entry.Tuesday, August 08, 2006
I wasn't kidding when I said this was going to be a long day; just got home.
Nothing better than starting the day with a 7:45 am phone call. This could get ugly. At least I'm home for this call.

Beautiful night of watching Hell's Kitchen and drinking Guinness. And I made this great salad for me and JMVC (though I kept the fried chicken for me). It's that much sweeter knowing I'll be busting my hump at work tomorrow. And before you start feeling sorry for me, it's really for work I should've done over the course of the last couple of weeks. Or even later.
I did something crazy this morning, I put cream cheese on a piece of bread. I was plum out of bagels, so tried some pumpernickel bread. I'll be frank with you; it wasn't too bad.

I just got back from another volunteer class tonight and I could feel myself turning into my brother: pretty much any work anyone did was less than what I was doing. I try to not take these things too seriously, but please people, don't say you're going to take something over just to leave it a few minutes later. That's not doing anybody any good. Well, it's doing themselves some good, but that's not the point. At least that's done. It's typically not like that, so I'll give it another shot.
Oh yeah! Big news. The past week has been such a blur, I forgot to mention that my place has some new residents. People have said I should get some pets or maybe even some plants. I say that's nothing! How about real, live people? No, my brother hasn't returned. And, no, that hooker from Venezuelan hasn't reared her ugly head. I am now the proud landlord to JMVC and Queen G. One happy little home we're going to have!
My dream was always to open my home to wayward girls, but this will have to do until I can realize that dream (one hot, slutty, wayward girl at a time).

My one and only goal this weekend is to do as little as possible; work has kicked my ass.
So I decided to dig up this rotted stump in my front yard. I had slept in pretty late and by the time I finished some other shite (including lunch with the Bubba's at the excrutiatingly slow Cheesecake Factory) so I didn't get around to it until past five. It might've been a good idea to have done it early, but it's done. But I got a damn blister.
I think I'll pass out by the pool to recover.

I don't know if Cingular or Blogger are the f'd up ones, but I'm leaning towards Cingular. My phone has been dropping calls, not connecting, erring out on texts, and just overall being difficult to deal with. I got a text from Yo! like five times and there are a few pics that are just now getting to the site (well, yesterday). I need to find some time to fix all them, but now I got to get to the office.

mobile post: at Stubb's
And that is a Shiner. And the food here is much better than I remember, especially the ribs. Friend's back in from San Francisco so we're bar hopping and checking out the local food. Hopefully that'll keep me from getting too messed up. It is a school night for Pete's sake.mobile post: in the 4th floor breakroom
Well somebody's got Code Red. And it's only a buck. And from the looks of things I don't think I need to worry about these guys running out. Not good for my intention of limiting my caffeine intake.Just woke up from a dream and I've barely been asleep for an hour. Last time I have that smore's ice cream before bed, that's for sure. This never happens. Anyway, I scribbled some notes but need to try to in back to sleepy sleep.
