mobile post: new year's eve going well
Some phone pics from New Year's in BA. We're at this really sweet place in beautiful Puerto Madero where we had to bribe our way in. Well, get charged a decent chunk for down here, but I think we have all the wine and champagne we can drink.
It is a shame I don't have pictures of neolefty bumping into a trash can as we rushed to this place. Our crazed taxi driver dropped us off at the opposite end from the other group so we were stepping fast in the humidity all the while checking each restaurant if they would let us in. During one of these drive-by's, neolefty just walked into an open bin and the crowd erupted! We finally hooked up the rest of the group and got into this place for about forty or fifty American.

New Years Eve has been pretty quiet so far. neolefty and are hitting one of the many internet cafes to get caught up with shite. Plans are to meet up with everyone at our place in a couple hours before the craziness starts. Great time so far.

mobile post: on it
So we´ve all arrived in Buenos Aires. incognegro´s flight was late so we met him at BA´s airport. neolefty and are are syncing up plans for the apartment tomorrow (along with trying to re-figure out these weird Latin American keyboards). But if anyone was wondering, we´re not dead.

I've got ten minutes to wrap up shit around the house before I head towards the bus (yes, the bus!) to the airport. As this might be my last post of the year, I had elaborate plans of writing up a year-end recap but won't have time for that. Though I'll give a couple examples:
But, that's just part of the fun of the year. I hope everyone has a great New Year's. I'll be drunk as a skunk in a bunk in a funk in Argentina.
See you all in hell.
- I had started off the year sending off an weekly email to the vice president of the company. I didn't think I should send it anymore so I just decided to stop sending it to see what would happen. Nobody noticed but I continued to take credit for doing it all year.
- Not only did I do another nano novel, I did a short story for the Austin Chronicle
- I had some girl come by my house at 11 pm on a Saturday night (of her own volition nonetheless) and I let her go because she had to work early the next day
- My fun visits to the hospital
- Getting my company to pay for an certification and an all day seminar after I had already completed the certification and then not attending the seminar.
But, that's just part of the fun of the year. I hope everyone has a great New Year's. I'll be drunk as a skunk in a bunk in a funk in Argentina.
See you all in hell.

I haven't got much done at work besides watching the clock tick. I've got to go get some shit at the store. Tomorrow at this time I'll be on the way. Well, on my way to the airport.

So, this is a nice article about Argentina. I feel like finding the author of this and beating his ass. And I'm a pacifist.

Well, I got to Austin and decided to take the bus. But I only got as far as down the block from the Crown and realized waiting there would be better for another bus home. That and I was hungry. Then I realized I didn't want to be on the bus any more and called up Chilly. Go Chilly!
At least I know getting the bus from the airport isn't difficult.

All I do know is that bloody mary's aren't very tasty to me. In fact, I think I'm not going to be able to finish this one.

My dad is not much for leaving on time. Unless that time is 20 to 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. Anyway, we're up in Orlando getting settled in at my brother's for Christmas Eve. With me leaving tomorrow, we're having our big dinner tonight. It isn't sanctioned by me, however, so I can not pledge to how good it will be. I'm assuming it will be satisfactory.

Happy Festivus! Even sanctioned by a state governor.
And on the positive side of things, we finally have a place in Argentina. neolefty finally managed to get one of these countless places to commit. Now we just need to figure out what we're going to do down there.

Whores stole my trash can! Well, I'm not sure if it was a whore or not, but somebody did.
It's only getting better: I just got home from the blue light special. I was at the restaurant by 5:10. It doesn't help that I gorged myself on mussels and pasta.
Oh that Rory Fitzpatrick thing is only getting worse. I mentioned it a week or so ago, but this guy with 27 points in 229 games is the second leading vote-getter in All-Star voting. A joke!

I'm not sure what else there is to do at my folks' place but sleep. I napped in the morning, napped after dinner. And I'm already tired even though I got more than 8 hours of sleep. I think the key is to go to bed early. Going to bed at 1 didn't give me enough time to sufficiently crash. Maybe something's in the air.

Well, another meal done by 5:35. Today, a roasted chicken with stuffing, roasted potatoes, asparagus, and my own asparagus and parsnip soup. I'm going to have to work out because I'm stuffed like that chicken wasn't.

Today's bearable, thankfully. The network's working, I'm able to work, I'm making some squash and parsnip soup for my mom. She actually thinks I know what I'm doing with this thing. I even got some time to meet up with Yo!'s girl to drop off my old wireless router.
Tuesday, December 19, 2006
I'm done with dinner! I'm eating like the old people. For the meal, Mom went old school with spaghetti and meatballs.
As for work, at least the new LAN is pretty much working here now. I just need to put in the short cord for the router and put the printer back in place. Just as long as it gets done by 8:30 so I can get to bed on time.

Stupid tech support! I can't get access to the internet with the router I have and friggin Bell South tech support did the ol' transfer and disconnect move. Bastards! Now I'm going to bed. I'll deal with it tomorrow. Well, later today.

I just got settled into my old room. Doing the math, I realized I haven't been down here since last year. It had to have been that long because there's a serious funk of moth balls around here. Funk!
mobile post: on the train gang
Yo! dropped me off for the Amtrak ride down to West Palm. So far, so good, but this doesn't get me there for another four hours. And I didn't bring a darn thing to read. B'oh!

I've been up since before 9, but we're still trying to get Yo! moving to get to Disney World. Plan is to meet up with my buddy from the UK around 1 at MGM Studios though we might be pushing it at this pace.

Just got back from Jacksonville from my time out with my college roommate. We hit a bunch of bars in the St. Augustine/lower Jacksonville area including an authentic British pub (authentic as in they brought most of it over from the UK). Good times!
Now I need to get ready to head down to Downtown Disney to meet up with friends from here and, hopefully, my buddy from the UK and his family. Tough coordinating with people visiting from other continents.

A shit storm of weather greeted me into Orlando, but my reward was meeting Yo!'s live-in girlfriend and the some of the best German food I've ever had. If you're ever in Sanford, Florida, check out the Willow Tree.
Now I've got to get over my sleepiness and get up to Jacksonville to meet up with my college roommate. I'm hoping to stay not too drunk again.

mobile post: airport fun
My flight out of Austin was delayed long enough to make me miss my flight to Orlando. At least I've made it to MCO. Though there was this dumb ass lady sitting next to me. She just stared at the seat in front of her the entire trip. I offered her my newspaper, but she turned me down. A couple hours starting at a seat, good time!
mobile post: out the door
Here goes the short story to Mr. Mailman. Many thanks to neolefty and JMVC for their editing prowess.
I've put off my packing as long as possible. I was actually kind of cleaning, that's how much I was avoiding it. Now I need some sleep so I can get up by 6:30. None of the people on this trip has seen me since my little slip and fall. I wonder if anybody will be scared? Anyway, to Florida I go (via bed)!

Well, the place in Buneos Aires FLOODED. What kind of funky luck do I have? Now we're back to square one.
Tuesday, December 12, 2006
It may be the 11th hour, but I'm going to enter the Austin Chronicle's short story contest. I figure the worse it will do is suck.
This is the worst packed package ever. S. Money deserves better, but the best I can do under the present circumstances is a brown paper bag.Labels: s. money
Well, neolefty found us a pretty good pad down in Buenos Aires. It's in the San Telmo sector where's there's a lot of action going on. Should be a good time.Labels: neolefty

My fridge wasn't broken, the fuse had blown. The fuse! That's two grand saved that can go directly to hookers and strippers. But the fridge looks so nice. I really want to keep it. Imagine, I'd have ice again. But then again, there are the strippers...

Well, as that image of the fridge came through, mobile posting must be back working. I f'd with some settings so let's hope I'm back being somewhat cool. Or back to posting the occasional picture.
mobile post: keeping the economy going
Well, I'm going into the office late. I've got to shop for a new fridge. What's more important, spending money or work?
That party last night has ruined my sleep. I've got to force myself to get some (sleep) or I'll be a total mess tomorrow.
Sunday, December 10, 2006
My damn outside fridge is dead. Where will I store my beer now? If JMVC hasn't mentioned it, it would have been fine. Though that does mean there will be crab legs in my immediate future.

I just got home from a party. Man, I'm beat. I'm just glad I didn't start drinking until I got to the party (near midnight). Good times were had (and pictures taken, maybe to be posted) but I think the funniest thing was this girl telling me how to avoid getting foam in my beer. She said to pour it out. Nice!
Well, sleep time for me.

I was at the office until nearly seven when I got a call from JMVC. He and Pot Roast were at Antonio's on Jollyville Rd so I headed out to meet up with those guys. I ran into some friends of Winston before we headed up to Little Woodrow's where JMVC and Pot Roast ran into some old friends. Then we went down to Lala's where I ran into a friend from work. I realized once again that I am no good at foosball. Pot Roast then left me and JMVC. Some people might think it wise to go home, but not us! We continued on to Poodle Dog where we not only closed the bar, but we were almost closed in the bar (we were just sitting in the corner by the pool tables and the place cleared out, but JMVC and I decided to see how long it would be before they kicked us out. It was nearly 2:45 am).
And my day was going to be spent working on the book or doing something of value, but that's not going to happen. Me and JMVC might check out Casino Royale.

Well, these crazy Cannucks are trying to get a journeyman player into the NHL All-Star game. This guy Rory Fitzpatrick is fifth in voting amongst defenseman. That's just nuts.
Man I tried for a better shot, but this is as good as I could get. I successfully avoided going to work until nearly 1 and then saw this SUV in front of me all decked out in Metallica bumper stickers and the like. Well, I was mesmerized by those and then looked down at the license plate. It read, I swear to whatever god I worship, I AM EVIL. Maybe I'll worship that guy.
So there are no NFL games during the day tomorrow so I'm wondering how people spend their day without college or professional football? This harkens bay to days gone past when people had to entertain themselves through conversation and sexual relations with their cousin's sister.
I had a lot of fun with the oldest friend last night. I took him to Rudy's then let him see the some of the sites of Austin. I dropped more cash on him than I typically do women, but I figure he'll be around in a few weeks (if not years) unlike most of them. Does that sound bitter?
Anyway, on a separate note, there is a new version of Blogger but I can't change to it. Damn me and all my posts!

I met up with my oldest friend last night and he told me I was too old for myspace. So I went ahead and added new pictures. I mean, I deleted the whores? Isn't that sign of a mature man?

Don't mess with the Serbs and their basketball, man. This is the craziest fight I've ever seen.
I mean, I thought they knew how to tear shit up in Michigan, but these guy are rioting before the game and have brought flares. Flares? To a basketball game? Ok, is this how it is: jersey? check; foam finger? check; novelty sign to get on Serbia's ESPN? check; flares to throw at riot police, just in case? check.

Well, my oldest friend in the world is in town for the next couple days (as in we've been friends since second grade, not as in he's old). Not sure what's up, though I don't think I've even seen him this century. One this is certain, trouble is certain not to happen. No trouble!

I think we've got a couple places locked down for the Argentina trip. I'm just waiting on confirmation but we should be good to go. Well, closer.

This is one long day. I forsee this week blowing.

We're running into dead ends finding places in Buenos Aires for the New Year's trip. Maybe putting off searching for accommodations wasn't the best of ideas. I was always told that procrastinating was the way to go.
Quiet weekend around here. Friday I had a little party to go to before heading out with Punchup to a few different bars. Getting home after 3 am didn't help me much getting to my cooking class at 8, but it wasn't as bad as I would have expected. After that, I sat around the house cooking and drinking beer before passing out around 7 pm. Then again around midnight. I did manage to get up early today and get some groceries and realized that wind coming off water is cold.
And now? Football, football, football!
And now? Football, football, football!

Good news to wake up to, incgonegro has bought his ticket to Argentina. So it sounds like all the players are in. And when I say 'players' I mean people on the trip. Though we are all players in the game of life.
