OK, the show's called Boomtown. And the actor was Neal McDonough.
I've woken up to rain, glorious rain! And I believe there's a chance it'll rain for the next couple days.
Unfortunately it does not cover up the crazy James Bond-time traveling dream I had. I don't think Bond was involved in the time traveling (at least not through the point I "saw"), but it didn't seem good. Some actor from a canceled show incognegro and I used to watch was in it. I can't recall his name but he's got blond hair and usually plays a lawyer type.

I didn't take it so easy last night. The only thing that's saved me is that I was in bed near midnight.

I took it easy last night, but tonight's Winston's "we're not getting married" party. I've run out and done my shopping so I can sit and watch the draft, basketball and hockey until then. Nothing but that until then.

For the second day in a row, I'm in the office before 9 am. What's wrong with me?

From the people are stupid category, from the Detroit News:
Shin-Soo Choo is back in the majors for the Indians, but not before being booed in the minors because of his name.
Choo said he was booed by some fans last week in Toledo because of the similarity between his name and that of Seung-Hui Cho, the Virginia Tech killer.
"Some fans said bad things," Choo told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "It's pretty close to my name. It upset me."

Well, not that much rain here last night. I guess I should be thankful that nothing bad happened to my house, but I'd still have liked my lawn to be overflowing with water.
Tuesday, April 24, 2007
I think the rain is finally coming. Good thing I did water earlier, but I'm pretty sure that I won't need to water tomorrow. Or today, whatever it is.
I saw my area has a weather advisory termed "High Risk". Apparently they only give that kind of outlook out a few times a year across the entire country. If I play my cards right, maybe I'll be able to get a second new roof after the tornado blows my roof off.
Well, no rain so far but I hear it's supposed to get pretty bad later tonight. I'm hedging my bets anyway and watering the lawn. That's a bummer because it's looked like shit all day.
Glorious news, it's supposed to rain today. The big decision was whether or not water the lawn. I've decided to water it, too. More importantly: how to get this Bob Denver song out of my head?

It sure will be a long day today; I couldn't fall asleep until past 3 and I got up at 6:30. No fun today, for sure.
I finally caught up with the Red Wings game just in time for them to seal the deal against Calgary. Let's just hope they can keep it up. Hope...

I just realized my home phone line ain't working right. And that's even funnier considering who I work for. Hopefully I can get expedited support.
You know when Asian karaoke is hit that it has been a long night. And since I just got up (though I did manage to get up for around and hour to water the lawn) that says it, too.

Man, yesterday was a lot of work but I still managed to get up early to water the lawn. Chilly even managed to swing by and we had time to check out Children of Men (very good flick about a post apocalyptic near future starring a very good Clive Owen). I've got a wedding to half-way crash tonight so I'll have to manage to get some rest some time. That is between all the sporting events going on today (Wings and Pistons are all playing).

My boss just told me to stay home since I wasn't feeling well. Man, this lawn thing might not be so bad after all.
This watering thing is such a drag. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it, but I've already been at it for what seems to be an hour. I even sent my boss an email saying I'd be in late to work so I wouldn't seem incompetent at watering lawns.
Thursday, April 19, 2007
Man, this watering the lawn thing is getting old quick. This is turning into an hour plus activity a day. Maybe I should've spent another grand or so on a watering system.

JMVC called up earlier and mentioned the Netflix DVD sitting in his mail pile was The Departed. So, hopefully he doesn't care that I cracked it open to check it out. I'll say I wasn't all the impressed. I could save him some time and tell him it was over-long with a contrived ending.
I just got back from Lowe's and blew 70 bucks on new hoses to water my lawn. At least I walked there and back so I feel less bad about spending the money. Still, hoses? Shouldn't those things be cheap? And ho's, those should be cheaper, too.
Good news, Chilly's back and finally(!) completed with his tour of all the MLB stadiums. I mean, that's a life-long goal and he's done by 28 (or however old that punk kid is). I think now he's got to try to see every minor league park. That'll keep him busy.
I had some leftover stir fry in the microwave and somebody was in the kitchen waiting for my food to finish. She said my food looked much better than hers. Her food was four or five chicken nuggets. I didn't want to be blunt and tell her it was obvious my shit was better looking (and smelling and tasting) than her food, but I thought I'd be nice.

I forgot I had lunch plans with an old boss so after arriving at the office at 11:35, I headed out. Nothing better than starting work around 1 pm.

I really am happy I've got light Monday mornings. I've been putzing around all morning and am just heading in now. Plus, I think there's a lot of people out for some planning conference so I'm hoping it'll be nice and quiet.
I love getting up early for conference calls. Though I am pleastantly surprised that I'm not as beat as I would've thought. Especially since I went to bed close to 1. That's one if you don't know how to read numbers.

Got a text from Patches; apparently ACL Fest tickets are on sale. Good for everybody else as I'll continue my streak of not attending. And with that, I'm passing out.

I made it into the pool today. I figured I'd make an attempt to get the ipod out of there, but the water's too cloudy to see to the bottom. After being in all that green muck, I'm just hoping nothing important falls off.

I think I'm going to stay on my couch the rest of my life. I came back from dropping my buddy off just to realize my early evening plans were now mid-afternoon plans. I got through those and passed back out around 6:00. I just woke up so I'm pretty sure I'll be up for a long, long time now.
I've got somebody passed out at my place and I've apparently signed up to run him all over down south to get his car. I'm pretty sure I'm not totally recovered from my partying from last night. Now, I just need to get back and pass back out.

What a surprise, I'm at the bar but this time I'm crashing a wedding reception. Maybe I'm not really crashing it because it is in the bar hopping stage. Anyways, here's a shot of me, emjey & The Cooler.Labels: drinking

I made dinner for Chilly thinking that might stave out the desire for the normal Thursday night at the Crown. It hasn't. I'm just saving up some energy to head out. Conservation has its place.

I'm not hungover or anything (as long as you losely define anything), but I really don't want to go to work. I guess that explains why I'm sitting my boxers with no intention of leaving anytime soon.
Ugh. Not only did I stay out longer than I had hoped, but I have officially realized going out every night of the week costs money.
Anyway, we hit Brentwood Tavern, then Poodle Dog, then La La's. All within walking distance. They just need one or two more bars around and I'll never need to leave home.

I got a text earlier and The Saw was interested in going for a beer. Where did I suggest? Brentwood Tavern, of course. Why not hit the same bar two days in a row?
Man, I've got it pretty easy some times. One of my bosses is involved with this center for disadvantaged children so there was a charity event last night at Brentwood Tavern. This all started at 6 and I offhandedly mentioned to another boss that it would be difficult to drink much prior to the event. She said we should avoid traffic and leave work at 4 to go drinking. I offer up Ginny's as she had never been. Anyway, this allowed me to do one of my favorite drinking activities: drinking when the sun's up. We had a few at Ginny's before getting to Brentwood right in time to get a few rounds before happy hour ended. And then there was the free drink coupons. Good burgers at that place. Good buns, too. It's like an up-north version of Shady Grove with all the outside seeting.
Anyway, I'm feeling a bit run down today, but I did get to bed by 11. I've been up since 6 and I'm pretty sure I'm going to not make it to the office before 10. I've got to rest up for tonight's drinking. Yep, pretty easy.

Well, not only did I decide to watch the Pistons game, I decided to make lunch. And not your normal sammich, not me! I pulled out a piece of this pork loin I bought, cooked that up with some asparagus, mushrooms & snow peas. Then I threw together a salad. And now I'm rushing the heck out the door to make my 9:00 am meeting.
Oh, and NBA TV showed the ticker with the Pistons score on it. Damn them!

Ugh! I went out for a couple drinks and ended up blowing nearly a hundred bucks on drinks and food. So much for saving money by not going out this weekend. And I was out until near midnight. It just ain't right that I had like seven whiskey and waters and still able to get up this early. Not your normal Monday night, though. Since I don't feel too bad I won't regret it too much, but still...
I think I'm going to be an idiot and try to watch the Pistons game from last night before heading to work. Darn DVR didn't record last night's so I had to re-record the rebroadcast.

So much for a ton of sleep over the weekend. I just got up and am thinking I'll end up at the office around 10. I'm pretty sure I don't have any meetings until past then, so I should be ok. Besides, I'm not all that concerned about it.

Man, those ribs knocked me out. I woke up about 30 minutes ago from some pork rib direct shot to the brain. My house smells like I've smoked a couple dozen racks of ribs. Fortunately there's only me to be disgusted by the smell and that ain't happening.
Waste Guiness? I decided to make some barbecue sauce out of it. And this stuff is spicey!
Well, I'm taking a big risk with the Easter meal. I'm making pork ribs and boiling them in Guinness. The original recipe I looked at called for water, but I figured everything is better with Guinness, right? Well, if this doesn't work out I've wasted two cans of black goodness.

It has been raining like crazy all day. Figures since I'll get my new sod laid next week. It'll probably not rain again for a few weeks so I'll be needing to get up early and water my lawn to get the roots to lock in. Or whatever roots do. Oh, and I get to do it twice a day. That much better.

Chilly came by to watch The Office. Then we headed to a mistake of a meal at Texadelphia. Man, that place is NO Jersey Mikes.
But Chilly's on the final stretch of seeing a baseball game at all the MLB stadium. He's off to Seattle next weekend (or is it the weekend after?) then almost immediately followed by a game in Atlanta. Then how's he topping all of that? He's going to Cooperstown to see the Baseball Hall of Fame. It reminds me that I'm way behind on my goal of seeing a game at every NHL arena. Hell, I haven't even seen the new arena in Dallas. I guess I still have something to live for.

I woke up yesterday and was still wiped out, this morning wasn't much better. And to make matters worse, I somehow hit myself in the face while putting on my glasses. That's never a good sign.
Anyway, today might be worse than yesterday; Yesterday I had no early meetings, today I've got an 8:30 call followed by meetings all day.

Well, I got home about 30 minutes ago. I'm wiped out and have a bit of land-sickness. I think that'll be way of saying I'm hungover. Great time on the cruise, though. Already planning for next year!
Amazing things from the cruise: I did end up in the Gulf of Mexico; I did not use the internet once; and, the biggest shocker of all, I did not gamble on the boat.
