Just got a confirmation call that Seerwah is coming to visit next week. And my oldest brother the week after that. And that's the same week that I blow out of this popsicle stand. Lots to do, so little time.

tower of power

Somebody's got too much time on their hands. Good thing its around to provide me some entertainment.

This is awesome, there are three Carl Jr.'s in Hawaii. Only seven months away! Though I should head down to the one in Van Ormy. That's in Texas, in case you were wondering.

I had a nice dream about me going on a cruise and then taking some other smaller boat and island hopping. One of the islands took British money. And we were being chased by somebody. Or we were chasing somebody? Either way, there was chasing and pounds.

Great line about the screw-job that is the NFL Network:

"So, you fortunate souls who'll be tuning in from your living rooms on Thursday, be sure to shed a tear for your deprived brothers and sisters in Austin and Madison. And take consolation in the fact that the residents of those fine cities who really want to watch this game will have some really good bars from which to choose."

Taken from an article by Michael Silver on Yahoo.

I'll need to find one of those really good bars Thursday, that's for sure.

I went out and bought three DVDs at lunch. Turns out I already owned two of them. I guess that's what happens when you don't open up most of your movie collection.

neolefty sent me a pic from outside In-N-Out Burger and it made me realize how much I miss Carl Jr.'s. And it made me wonder why there isn't a Carl's here. And then it call came back to the difference between the West Coast Carl's Jr. and the East Coast Hardee's. Take a look at the maps of both locations.

Carl's Jr.
Hardee's

Notice how they have no crossover, but still there isn't one of either within 90 miles of ATX.

Each restaurant is part of the CKE Restaurant chain but the menus aren't the same, but the web sites are strikingly similar. And Hardee's is more of a breakfast place where Carl's Jr. is lunch/dinner city. Regardless, if only they both had the Ranch Crispy sandwich. I love that sandwich and I think its only gotten better; now it has Swiss cheese and bacon. Got to love that.

My lack of 2008 vacation plans has gone away; I'm going to Hawaii for a wedding in July. Plenty of time for me to save up some cash and such. Supposed to be a big group of people hitting Ke Iki Beach on Oahu. Cool thing is that each of the bungalows have kitchens so I can save some cash cooking up some of me food.

We aren't going to take it!

I finished the race in just over 20 minutes but would've done much better if I wasn't forced to drink their beer. I can't do luke warm Miller Genuine Draft.

Sounds like people are trying to bail on the Beer Mile for tomorrow. Just because it'll be 40° and raining? The nerve of some people.

Funny thing, my turkey is still warm. And its been out of the over for like 3 or 4 hours. Tin foil to the rescue!

Speaking of food, lots of stuffing and potatoes left over.

This is an exciting way to spend Thanksgiving, trying to kill some of the 2,000 plus unread emails from hotmail account.

Well, they are the same old Lions. I'm sure the players will blame this on the media.

thanksgiving grub

I had planned on a huge Thanksgiving dinner for me and pattyo, but somebody forgot to tell him. He's disappeared so there's tons of food for me!

Here is the green been casserole getting prepped along with the stuffing. What isn't there is the mashed potatoes, but they look like mashed potatoes.

Now we've got the luscious turkey and my first plate! My brother doesn't know what he's missing. Now it is time for the couch.

Just got back from Opal Divine's for the Pixie's birthday and found out there's a mile race where you drink beer before each lap. The Austin Beer Mile is this Saturday and I've got a group of five people willing to go and slam some beers with me. I'll believe it when I see it.

I finally got my hotmail account to work. Not on Firefox, just on IE. The funny (read: not so funny) part is that they upgraded it to a new, less shitty version. They've joined the early 2000's by actually having a search option.

Great, the Patriots get to be on Sunday night again. Nothing better than being able to turn off a game and watch other crap on Sunday night. King of the Hill, anyone?

Thankfully I'm hungover so the Lions getting beat doesn't hurt so much.

mac and cheese

With diced ham in a little ramekin I got in a deal from Le Creuset. Good thing we've got a toaster oven here because I warm it up for a little bit in the microwave before finishing it off in the oven.

Lots of wheeling and dealing have the Tigers lineup looking like this:

CF Curtis Granderson
2B Placido Polanco
DH Gary Sheffield
RF Magglio Ordonez
1B Carlos Guillen
SS Edgar Renteria
C Ivan Rodriguez
LF Marcus Thames/Jacques Jones
3B Brandon Inge

I like that. Just as long as Inge plays better than last year.

pot pie!

I took some potatoes, carrots and diced them pretty small and boiled them until tender. Then I took leftover chopped beef and combined them all with some gravy. Combine this with the vegetables and pour ito a ramekin.

As for the topping, one could use some puff pastry or do as I did and used some biscuits. Then I baked in a preheated oven at 400 degrees for twelve minutes (or until the biscuit is golden brown.

Wonderful upset by the Seminoles tonight. Funny how it used to be other teams upsetting Florida State. I guess you take what you can get.
