The lawn guys just left and it's nice and clear. Until the leaves drop again...

you want five grand?

Another fun dream, I was at a store and some guy was trying to sell iPhones supported by a $5,000 cash back offer. And I turned it down!

not him!

I had a dream that I had a conversation with that CSQ Steve Spurrier. And it was a decently cordial to boot. Wow, that's painful.

back yard

Blooming nice, right before some rain.  I'm not sure if this is normal before rain but I've only seen it once before this year.  Maybe it only blooms when it gets some rain?

some crazy trash

I caught this walking home from dropping my car off for an oil change.  I can understand, maybe, having one out there, but two?  What kind of set up did these cats have?

9/1 lawn

Its been a while (I feel like I'm starting off a Staind song), but here's the lawn as of this morning.  Seeing that 100° virtually every day and only rained maybe twice, I think it did fine.  I should show the back lawn, though the point of comparison wouldn't be there. But that helps that I accidentally watered it all day one day last week.

had to try it out

That's my friggin office with bars being pointed out to me.  This is awesome.  Its like virtual reality within reality.  neolefty brought this to my attention yesterday (it is the latest version of the Yelp application for the iPhone) but I only got the thought to figure it out a little bit ago.  Thankfully because if I knew this would be this cool I'd have downloaded it hours ago and wandered the streets looking for bars.  Which is scary because I already know where most of them are and finding the ones that have been hiding from me would be quite the boon.

call my broker!

Some giant pounding outside woke me up. Not in my head like some normal early mornings (though I usually sleep for another hour or two like that). No, this was like somebody was slamming on a door. I had to take the trash out so figured I'd check it out, finding nothing but a recollection of a dream about watching a financial news network where a couple of the personalities were doing magic tricks between news. It had to be Fox. One of the guys did a trick while talking about Michigan's governor Jennifer Granholm. Just before saying he thought shorting oil was a good idea.

And now I go back to sleep.

world's best dad

Just finished off World's Greatest Dad that had me, almost lost me, pulled me back in, then nearly lost me again, but not enough for me recommend against see it (e.g. check it out!). Definitely a black comedy with a couple turns in there to keep it interesting. Robin Williams doesn't play a characaterizatoin of himself and gives what could be his best performance since Good Will Hunting. The movie's centers on Lance Clayton (Williams) and his tangled relationship with his misfit son, Kyle (Daryl Sabara). And I think misfit is a complement. Anyways, the parts that couldn've been predictable turned out to not be. There's a couple points toward the end that may have been better off changed but I liked it.

Oh, this was another of those movies previewed on cable before heading to the theater which is pretty, pretty cool.

no more michigan state fair?

This could be the end of a 160 year tradition in Michigan. Kind of a sad story but considering I've never been and I guess nobody else is, should we really hold onto things just because they're old? You'd think some benevolent person would step in with some cash but maybe even the most charitable person doesn't see the point in throwing good money after bad.

focus- hocus pocus (live '73)

This thing is disturbing...

And the introduction is just priceless. Though I'm going to have to buy this song now, I have always wondered who the hell 'sung' that song.

sweet look

Picture earlier in the night of the wonderful work done by the doctor last Friday yanking out my nodular fasciitis. Remnants from some of my trip to the ER back in 2006. Turns out there were pieces of gravel and glass in my arm. That's fun!

the old 'put-pocket' scheme

I've always thought people should do more put-pocketing but I assumed people would get the beat down. I guess the badges make it official so I approve.

Anyways, it has such great potential, I mean I'd love to have somebody come over to me and shove $20 in my pocket; it'd be like being a stripper for the day. But thankfully (for everyone) with my clothes on.

quiet week

Haven't been doing all that much this week as a result of last weekend and just feeling like chilling, but Top Chef is back! I saw last night's episode a bit earlier off the DVR and they've got a pretty impressive/interesting group of chefs. Seeing this reminds me of how shitty the contestants are for Hell's Kitchen, entertaining, but not above-board competent. That, too, I caught off the DVR and they are like night and day though I can't turn either of them down. Gordon Ramsey is up and down, engaging and annoying, helpful and destructive on his shows but he's just so friggin knowledgeable its ridiculous. Between Hell's Kitchen and the new season of The F Word (on BBC America) one would think I'd be Ramsay'd out, but I'm not. Give me another season of Kitchen Nightmares!

baseball draftees signed

Well, the Tigers signed some of their draft picks late, late last night. They draft these guys back in June but all the deals take until the last minute which is ridiculous. Baseball players aren't like other sports so these guys wouldn't get signed and go to the Majors immediately (albeit rarely it does happen) but if they came in sooner there's a change they'd be available for a September call-up. Wouldn't Stephen Strasbug be nice to see for the struggling Natinals fan? But instead, you'll have to go to Arizona Fall League to see him or wait until next spring. Ridiculous!

rest for the wicked

I believe Tai Chi headed out several hours ago; I'm still recovering from the blur that was Friday night to Saturdaynight. We had work people cancel so we had dinner with people we didn't know, drank five dollar margaritas and over priced food, ate cupcakes at The Driskill (with Chimay) before meeting up with The Closer and doing some Flaming Doctor Peppers. Then things are a bit cloudy before getting woke up around 8 am for tubing. There was drinking involved with that before coming home for a nap then going back out to get some food at my latest food stop, Home Slice. Then out for some drinking with The Cooler again (this time for his birthday) before calling it a night. I need a nap!
